ABOUT DON

Born and educated in Ballarat, Don graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in psychology and political science from the University of Melbourne. Registered to practise in Victoria as an organisational psychologist, Don has run his own successful independent practice for 25 years.

Don became interested in civil celebrancy after writing and delivering the eulogies for his parents' funerals. This profound personal experience led him to become a registered civil celebrant. He is qualified to design and conduct weddings, renewals of vows and funerals.

On the personal side, Don has lived in Ivanhoe for 39 years, is married to Sally and has five sons and five grandsons. He is active in his local community and lists food and wine, reading, travel, jazz and classic cars among his interests.

Don believes in giving you complete freedom of choice; you own the ceremony – he is your consultant, facilitator and resource in designing a memorable and beautiful ceremony that reflects your values, feelings and personalities.

Don's own beliefs, religious or secular are irrelevant so that there is no barrier to creating a ceremony rich in poetry, prose, music, choreography and cultural symbolism.

Don encourages you to include family and friends in your ceremony. Most want to be useful! Successful ceremonies reflect careful planning and rehearsal. Don co-ordinates everything on the big day to guarantee a ceremony to remember.

Committed to the highest standards, Don adheres to a strict code of professional conduct including subscribing to the provisions of the ten point quality wedding.

You have a relaxed, no obligation discussion with Don about your plans.

You are entitled to unlimited consultations, whether they are in person or on the phone.

You are given complete choice of ceremony.

You will be supplied with a source book "Ceremonies and Celebrations" or equivalent.

You are entitled to an onsite rehearsal or, if this is not possible, at a suitable place within reasonable distance.

You are provided with a printed copy of your ceremony created in conjunction with you.

Don will dress elegantly to match your wedding decor.

He will be completely familiar with the ceremony and will speak in a sincere and engaging manner.

Ample time is allowed. Your ceremony is the only one he will perform that day.

Your wedding certificate is calligraphied or laser printed.
